Welcome & News

Hello Pine Valley Community...

Welcome to Pine Valley Ed Fund (PVEF).  We are a non-profit organization, run by a board of volunteer parents dedicated to raising funds to help maintain and enhance the quality of education at Pine Valley.

The PVEF has two main purposes:

  1. Class Size Reduction:  We reduce the number of students in academic core classes by paying for additional "sections," with each section being the cost of hiring another teacher. (A section is one period of one class.) Our goal for the 2017-2018 is to fund six (6) additional sections ($111,000), thus lowering the teacher/student ratio. Additionally we will be funding 2 paraeducators ($1,500).
  2. Technology Support / Classroom Enrichment:  Based on input from parents, staff and Site Council, PVEF purchases devices that allow our students to research, create, learn and thrive in a technology-based society.  This year we are donating:
  • $5,250 which were double matched by our 2017 SRVEF/SRVUSD Technology Matching Grant Award thus purchasing $15,750 of classroom technology:
    • 55 new Chromebooks for
      • 7th Grade Core
      • 6/7/8th Grade Languages
      • 6th Grade Science
      • 6/7/8th Grade Resource
    • 2 Laptop Carts
  • $20,000 towards new computers for our Computer Class Lab
  • $30,000 towards the MPR Audio/Visual system
  • $2,500 towards the Career Tech class supplies
  • $1,500 towards maintaining and enhancing the Library Maker Spaces
  • $13,000 grant offering this fall which gives our teachers and staff an opportunity to help fund a new classroom enrichment or maybe sustain an on-going enrichment

Individually, I don't believe any of us have the capacity to provide all the necessary funds to carry out our mission, but by working together we CAN make a difference.  Our requested donation this year is $350 per student or $600 per family, but any amount you donate will make an impact on the students of Pine Valley.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and have a great year! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at PineValleyEdFund@gmail.com.

Warm regards,
Debbie Morford, PVEF President
And the Entire 2017-18 PVEF Board

We managed to fund, partially fund or find other sources of funding for every single grant submission.  Items that we found other sources of donation funding were:

  • Christina DeMartini, 6th Grade Core, $180 for the Core Novel “I Am Malala”. This will be funded by PV Ed Fund’s Core Novel budget line item.
  • Taylor Mulholland, 6th Grade Core & Reading, $428.28 for a one year subscription to Scholastic SCOPE magazine. This will be funded by Registration 6th Grade Classroom Donation.
  • Debbie Irvin, 6th Grade Science, $800, one "Foldscope" microscope kit for each 6th grade student at Pine Valley. This will be funded by Registration 6th Grade Classroom Donation.

Congratulations to our grant winners!
